Got To Love Daycares!

I received a call this afternoon that Blake was running fever and wasn’t eating. They told me that they have sent 2 babies home with strep throat. WONDERFUL!!! It seems like everything happens when James is at the station but not today! I was able to call James and have him be Mr. Mom. I often feel like I’m just working to pay for daycare, co-pays and medicine o and let’s not forget about the $3,600.00 - 3 night hospital stay! So now after my little venting session I would like to ask for prayers from my fellow blog readers that Blake will get well! It seems like he has been sick his whole little life. Poor Baby!

Easter Weekend

What a busy weekend! Blake’s daycare was closed on Friday since it was “Good Friday” so my dad watched Blake for half of the day and then he came to work with me for the rest of the day. That was nice but I did not get much done with him at the office!

James also made it back Friday from his week long fishing trip in New Mexico. Let’s just say that he had a great week and mine was very tiring with him being gone. I think James was a little concerned that Blake might have forgot who he was because he was gone for so long but he didn’t! He was very happy to see his daddy as was I! We hung out at my parents on Friday night and then we had the Miracle League baseball game on Saturday. After the baseball game I took Blake over to my parents so that he and his little cousin Riley could play. We bought Blake a crab sandbox about a week ago but with the weather being so crabby (get it crabby) he hasn’t been able to enjoy it but on Saturday he and Riley both enjoyed it!

I also had to post this video of him and Riley playing inside with some Easter grass. I think that Riley is going to be the boss, what do you think?

Then yesterday for Easter Sunday we all went to Church and had lunch at my parents like we do every Sunday! We didn’t hunt any eggs because it was raining but Blake did love his first Easter basket!

Miracle League Baseball Season

On Saturday Blake and I headed out to the miracle league baseball field. James and other Wichita Falls Fireman were buddies for the game. Below is the article from the news paper.

Miracle League celebrates beginning of baseball season

It was opening day at the ballpark and the crowd celebrated by singing along to “Take me out to the Ball Game.”
The song kicked off the 2009 season for the Miracle League on their new field, next to Memorial Stadium.
The project, spearheaded by the Junior League of Wichita Falls, has been in the works since 2004. In September, the group broke ground for the field and Saturday morning a celebration kicked off opening day, starting with the first game.
The Astros and the Yankees stepped onto the newly built, handicap-accessible field at 9 a.m. The game was followed by an opening ceremony.
Fans crowded the stands and the field as members of the Junior League talked about the project.
“It started as research as part of our community plan,” said Rachelle Cooper. “From there, we have raised half a million dollars.”
The field is specially designed to accommodate players with special needs. It’s for people between 3 and 21 years old with disabilities.
One of the biggest differences in the Miracle Field versus any other playing field is the ground. Instead of being bases tossed into the dirt, it is a special substance, that can be squeegeed the morning after a rain, making it possible for children in wheelchairs to take the field.
After the ceremony, members of the Sheriff’s Posse served up hamburgers and hot dogs then the second group of teams took the field.
As the Rangers and the Twins found their seats in the dugouts and the players took the field, Miracle League “buddies” were there to grab their hands and take them around the field. “Buddies” play the game with the children, staying by their side to be their support.
The Miracle League season will continue Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Phase two of the project includes building a concession stand and family rest rooms. Work on that phase will start in the summer.
